When I started the program, I felt healthy enough, felt like I was keeping up with the various roles of mothering, a full time job outside of the home and being a decent partner and friend. But I had this nagging internal voice saying things such as, ‘What’s all the effort and stress for when I am just barely keeping my head above water? Isn’t there more to life? How do I get to a place where I get to work on the bigger societal issues that pull my attention?’ I didn't want any regrets and time flies by!

My physical and emotional health have benefited tremendously from this program and as a result so has the health of my family members. And, I can say this is still true several years after I took Lael’s habits course! My relationships with others and myself feel stronger and I am less conflict avoidant. This course work has helped me create space to imagine and plan in ways I didn’t before through the skills of self-care, identity evolution and habit change. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge and therefore confidence about how to take care of myself (body, mind, spirit) and that has been empowering. This has influenced how I spend my time, what I say yes or no to. Additionally I’m less distracted by small physical ailments that had started to add up in my forties. My inner voice is much less judgemental. I’m reading more. I have better energy. I’ve lost weight. I haven't been bogged down by colds and allergies. I now know how to take better care of my dry skin. I have a better relationship with food, working towards one of gratitude and reciprocity. I’m using my imagination and creativity more. I’m trusting myself and others more than I was. I rarely yell at my kids anymore. I’ve made new friends, even explored different types of relationships then I had known before. I am gaining confidence in setting boundaries with others. I’m more aware of what I’m feeling in the moment and can make better decisions as a result. My work with Lael has led to greater presence, and that has slowed down how I experience time.

If something has you curious about this course, embrace that curiosity! It might require some faith in yourself and it will require putting in some effort upfront until your new habits are automated, but you will learn so much about yourself. You’ll have tools for how to make it happen, the way you want to show up for your day, and ultimately you’ll experience the positivity that happens as a result of learning these skills. The ripple you make will expand and help others!
