Belong to You: The Habits Program

You’re ready to make some changes. Maybe you know what they are. Maybe you’re still trying to figure it out.

What I have come to see is that regardless of where you are in your growth journey, we all need a solid foundation of self-care in order to thrive.

If you aren’t sleeping or eating well; if you aren’t moving your body or releasing your stress, it’s really hard to determine your next steps.

Developing a simple, daily, self-care routine that honors your body’s natural rhythms is where we start.

But here, you don’t just learn what to do, because let’s face it - we all know we should be meditating and exercising more. You learn how to create better habits that last a lifetime.

It might feel hard to put yourself first like this, but I encourage you to trust the process. We’re not into quick fixes here. We honor the time it takes to transform.

If you…

  • Are stressed out and overwhelmed

  • Feel unsure about your path ahead

  • Don’t feel great in your body

  • Take care of everyone else but yourself

...then, with this program, you can...

  • Learn to prioritize yourself

  • Feel less stressed and overwhelmed

  • Feel confident in your body

  • Ultimately know what’s right for you

  • Digital resource library and workbook

  • Community meetings for learning and coaching

  • Private members forum

  • Accountability partner, if desired

  • Discounts on 1:1 coaching and additional workshops

What does the program include?

A complete digital library with videos, worksheets, and journal prompts that will guide you to create a simple, sustainable, self-care routine for life.

Membership includes:
Weekly online group coaching where you can ask questions, receive coaching and connect with others in the program.

A private forum for members where you can receive support between meetings.

Early-registration for retreats and discounts on 1:1 coaching and other workshops like the Design Your Year workshop, Quarterly Planning workshops, and more!

Is everything online?

Yes and no. Your learning materials (videos, lessons, workbook) are housed in Membervault, an online course delivery platform. Group meetings are on Zoom. Individual coaching is by phone. In person meet-ups and retreats are in real life!

Do you bill insurance?

We do not. Insurance reimbursement requires a medical diagnosis and oftentimes prior authorization for medically necessary treatment. Although there are significant health and mental health benefits to coaching and this program in particular, it is considered “self-help” and not medical treatment for a disorder or disease. You can check with your tax preparer to see if the program is a tax deductible expense for you.

How long is the program?

As long as you want it to be. I’ve run this program as a 6-month process, a 3-month process, and even a year-long experience. What I’ve learned is that everyone needs something a little different.

When you sign-up, you get access to a digital library of resources that teaches you a simple, daily, self-care routine that supports you in mind, body and spirit. This online program is yours to keep for life.

In addition, you receive three months of membership in our community for FREE.  After the first three months, if you want to continue your membership, your investment is $129/month. You can stay as long as you want.

This program is designed to meet your individual needs. If you want better self-care habits, you may achieve the changes you want in 6 months or so. If you want a deeper transformation, that may take more time.

Maybe you’re someone who values the ongoing support and accountability of a growth community without having a time limit. This program is designed to have options based on what you want and need.

Do I have to be tech savvy?

A bit. You have to be able to open and read emails, click links, log into an online learning platform, navigate our private Slack forum, and dial the phone.  I'm not super techy and I figured it out. Don't worry, we are here to support you through any tech challenges!

I’ve never done an online course, what can I expect?

There might be a learning curve at first. It can take a few weeks to find your flow, but once you attend a couple of group meetings, start connecting with others in the forum, and explore your learning materials, you’ll see how to make it work for you.

The program is designed to walk you through each habit step-by-step. You just have to take it one habit at a time, practice making small changes and reach out for support.

Our community is down-to earth, welcoming and committed to each other's growth as much as our own. We’re clear about our values and our community agreements. Each member plays an important part in co-creating our dynamic growth community. We're happy to have you join us!

I don’t like groups. Why can’t I do this on my own?

You can, but ask yourself this: has it ever worked before?

People evolve faster in groups. The changes you make here will last longer because you are growing and changing your habits and mindset with others. You benefit from the momentum, encouragement and energy of others who are also on a growth path.

That being said, you are welcome to lurk. The program is designed for you to engage at whatever level feels right for you.

What are the other members like?

They are awesome! No, really. The women who have been a part of this community are incredible. Chances are you will be learning and growing with honest, motivated, and heart-centered women.

Most members tend to be parents between 30–60 years old. Many have careers outside the home. Some members are single or divorced. Some have no children. Some are retired. Some are queer. Some are straight. Most are white, and we’re working on that.

Regardless of the identities you hold, we are united in our desire to take better care of ourselves, live aligned with our values, and heal ourselves to heal the world.

Lofty intentions, I know. But ultimately that's why I believe personal growth work like this habits program is so important. It's not just so we feel better and therefore can participate in all of the worldly desires capitalism would like us to participate in. It's so we can wake-up and create change in the world by being changed ourselves.

Do you work with men?

Not in this program. We find that the challenges and desires that are unique to women are best explored in a women’s-only space.  1:1 coaching is available for all people, though.

My partner needs this too. Can we do this program as a couple?

If your partner is a man, you are welcome to share what you are learning with them, but they cannot enroll or attend group meetings.

If you and your partner are women, I encourage you to enroll individually. That way you each have access to your own learning materials and can work through them privately and at your own pace.  If you have questions about your specific situation, schedule a discovery call with me via the contact page on this website.

Do you ever meet up in person?

Yes, we do and we love it! Sometimes members who live near each other will get together on their own. We also host one or two retreats a year for members typically near Portland, OR.

What if I need more support?

There are lots of ways to increase your connection and support within this program. You can get an accountability partner or join a power circle (a small group that meets for accountability and conversation). You can use the forum to post questions and wins and/or volunteer for coaching in our group meetings. Some members also add 1:1 coaching for individualized support to reach their goals.

I know someone who needs this. Can I pay for them to join?

We love that you are thinking about those you care about. Feel free to share our website with them. Since we’re all about self-determination and choice, we only want members who are motivated to explore this work themselves. If you want to offer a scholarship or cover the cost for someone who’s committed but cannot afford it, that's awesome. Have them schedule a call with me and we’ll talk it through.

The Journey

Belong to You: Journey

You’ve developed a solid self-care routine and are loving this process of personal growth. You’re ready to do more! You’re ready to see what else you are capable of.

In the next phase of the journey, you will...

  • Identify your core values and life purpose
  • Enhance your intuition
  • Update limiting beliefs
  • Declutter your home
  • Improve your time management
  • Deepen your relationships
  • Set goals and create action plans
  • Live life intentionally

  • Digital library with video lessons, action steps and worksheets
  • Bi-weekly online group meetings for learning and coaching
  • A private members forum for support between meetings
  • Power Circles for small group accountability and deeper conversation
2 individual coaching meetings, free admission to the Design Your Year workshop and Quarterly Planning Workshops, discounts on additional 1:1 coaching meetings, and invitations to member's-only retreats.

How much time does it take?

Similar to the habits program, about 1-3 hours a week for group meetings or power circle meetings and engaging with your learning materials. As with any growth experience, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

That being said, a year is a long time. There will be weeks where you feel like you've done nothing with the program and community and other weeks where you feel totally engaged. Its okay. Life happens. The program is designed to take you through a step-by-step process but you can always go back and revisit materials/lessons you missed.

It's not uncommon for members to spend a second year in this community once they experience the value of learning and growing with other women.

How often do we meet?

Twice a month as a community. Power Circles meet 1-2 x a month as well. And then once or twice a year for in-person retreats.

What is a Power Circle?

Power circles are smaller groups of 4-6 members who meet regularly on their own for accountability and deeper conversation about about the topics we're exploring. Members are grouped into Circles at the beginning of the program. Power Circle members are responsible for the formation and maintenance of their group including meeting dates/times, roles etc. Coaching and support are provided to help you create and sustain a thriving Power Circle.

Why do you do Power Circles?

So many women want to have meaningful conversations about real life issues and their personal growth. Power Circles give members the opportunity to connect with each other on a deeper level and explore the learning materials together. I believe learning how to create and be a part of a Power Circle is an important skill to have so you can create them to support your personal growth any time for the rest of your life.

What if I need more support?

Each member receives 2 hour-long coaching meetings with Lael. Additional meetings can be purchased as needed at the member's reduced rate. Sometimes stuff comes up as we explore the lessons together. 1:1 coaching can help you process where you feel stuck, discern what's right for you, and take effective action.

What's my investment?

$4000 for 12 months of content, coaching and community. Payment plans available.

Bonuses include: The Belong To You Habits Program and membership, Design Your Year Workshop, Quarterly Planning Workshops, two 1:1 coaching meetings, discounts on additional coaching and workshops, and an invitation to our annual members-only retreat. Value: $2750

When you’re ready, you can  apply for the Journey here.   A new cohort begins each January.

I want this. How do I apply?

Spend at least 6 months in the Belong To You Habits program. This will give you the solid foundation of self-care and practice prioritizing your growth.

I tell people, you don’t need the Journey like you might need the habits. You have to WANT the Journey experience. If you love personal growth and understand the value being a part of an intentional growth community, then the Journey is for you.

I am mindful of who I take on the journey because of the kind of deep work we do and the amount of time we spend together. Once you’ve been in the habits community for at least six months, you’ll have a good sense of how I coach, how our community rolls, and whether you’re ready for this next level of growth.

1 on 1 coaching

1:1 Coaching

Individual coaching is a collaborative and empowering partnership that helps you create changes in your life. Whether you want to make changes to your career, your relationships, or your limiting beliefs, individual coaching can help.

Individual coaching is a powerful addition to your group program membership, or as a stand-alone process.

Maybe you’re thinking:

"I want a confidant, mentor and coach to help me stay accountable to my dreams."

“I just got promoted and I have no idea what I’m doing.”

“I need to make some changes in my family and I want to do it well.”

“I don’t want to deny who I am anymore.”

"I want to make some changes in this next phase of my life."

Some of your goals may include:

  • Clarifying and living your life purpose
  • Developing your leadership skills at work or home
  • Making a career change
  • Believing new things about yourself
  • Taking action toward your dreams

Although I work predominantly with women, 1:1 coaching is available to any motivated and heart-centered person.  If you have some goals in mind and are ready to dig in, schedule a call with me. Let's chat and see if we’re a good fit!

How can coaching help me?

People seek coaching for all kinds of reasons. Some common ones include:

  • Navigating a life transition such as divorce, becoming a parent, or losing a loved one
  • Changing careers or adjusting to retirement
  • Improving relationships with partners, children, or other family members
  • Addressing self-sabotage and limiting beliefs
  •  Accountability and creating new habits
  • Coping with a recent diagnosis or health issue.
  • Making decisions regarding relationships, career, health or other challenges.

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?

There are a lot of similarities between therapy and coaching. Both involve talking, listening and reflecting. Both involve a confidential relationship between a client and provider.  Both tend to sought out when something isn't working in your life.

But, in general, therapy focuses on the past. It's focused on helping people restore previous  functioning. Therapy addresses mental health conditions that are causing impairment in functioning and/or recovering after a traumatic event.

Coaching, on the other hand, focuses on the present and the future. It’s designed to help you grow in awareness and take action. It's designed to help you identify your vision for the future and take steps to create it.

Another way to look at it is that therapy assumes there is something broken about your life, your mental health, or your relationships that needs treatment in order to be well. That's why you are given a diagnosis and insurance companies will often pay for treatment.

Coaching assumes you are already whole, competent and capable and that you are seeking coaching to navigate a life transition, determine future plans, or achieve personal or professional goals. Doesn’t that sound fun?

That doesn't mean we don't talk about the past or about feelings in our coaching meetings. It just means we treat your emotions as a healthy part of being human, and present moment awareness as the gateway to healing past hurts.

You can read more about the distinctions between coaching and therapy here.

I’ve done a lot of therapy. How are coaching meetings different than therapy sessions?

Coaching with me tends to be more structured than a typical therapy session.  We start by having you get clear about what you want to accomplish during our time together. We explore your current challenges through powerful questioning, visualization, and brainstorming what’s possible. We end by reflecting on what you learned and creating the steps and accountability you need move forward.

Coaching is a collaborative process. I believe YOU are the expert in your life. I am the expert of the coaching process. I use my intuition to ask deeper questions, to offer feedback, and share observations in order to help you gain clarity.  Unlike some therapists, I do not prescribe treatment or tell you what to do.

I don’t know what I want different in my life. I just know that I’m stuck. Can coaching help?

Absolutely. We’ll just spend the first few meetings figuring out what you do want. Effective coaching requires that you have some idea about what you want different or what you want to create, even if it's deeper personal awareness or clarity on a specific issue.

How much does it cost?

Coaching packages start around $1200 for 3 months and up to $2250 for six months.

It's not cheap, but it's cheaper than a divorce or paying for cancer treatment! We have to think about coaching differently. Coaching is an investment in your present and future well-being - much like hiring a personal trainer.

If the investment feels daunting, ask yourself "What's my problem costing me right now?" or "What's the emotional, physical and financial cost of doing nothing?"

Think about your habits and the cost of being sick in this country. (Healthcare expenses are still the leading cause of bankruptcy in this country. We can't afford to get sick.)
Consider the impact on your relationships or parenting. (Oftentimes kids are our biggest motivators to heal our own shit.)
Be honest about where you are spending money now to avid dealing with your feelings or challenges (those wine and shopping habits add up!)
Consider the real cost of under-earning in a job you hate for another five years.

Your answers to these questions can help you see the value of investing in yourself now.

What kind of results do people get from coaching?

Depends on the work they put in, but most experience…

  • Increased awareness of self and others
  • Greater clarity about their current situation and the next steps to take
  • Improved self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Better communication skills and deeper intimacy with others
  • Healthier lifestyle habits
  • Better work-life balance
  • Clearer boundaries and healthier relationships
  • A sense of purpose and direction in their lives
  • Feeling empowered and excited about life

What if I need therapy too? Can you do that?

I do not provide mental health therapy anymore - just coaching, but plenty of clients need both. Just like you might have a naturopath and an MD. It’s not uncommon for my coaching clients to have done some therapy already or to be seeing their therapist while doing coaching with me. I like to collaborate!

Why do you meet by phone? Isn’t that kind of impersonal?

I thought so too at first, but now I love it and I think you will too. First of all, it’s not Zoom. (Aren't we all a little fried from looking at a computer?)

Coaching by phone is also so freeing! You can be almost anywhere and have a coaching meeting. All you need is a phone and reception.

People find it very convenient to shut their office door and have a coaching meeting during their lunch break. Or meet from the comfort of their own home. No driving, no looking for parking. No worrying about your internet connection or looking presentable on camera. It might take some time to get used to, but many of us used to talk on the phone all the time, remember?

I find it very easy to tap into my intuition, to listen to what’s going on beneath the words being said, and offer direct feedback when coaching by phone. All I can say is “Don’t knock it until you try it.”
